London I'd really love your advice on something. My girlfriend just broke up with me because my depression hasn't been getting better and she basically doesn't want to deal with it. How am I supposed to respond? What am I supposed to even think right now?
If over an extended period of time your depression has gotten worse or failed to get better, ask for help. Honestly therapy was the best thing I ever did. It gave me a lot of great tools and insight into myself and the world I live in.
As for your girlfriend. Well that’s tough to say. It’s not her position to ‘fix you’ so to speak. I mean that really sucks for her to break up with you during a time when you feel like you need her most. Sometimes when people feel like they aren’t in control of a situation or have no power to change something, they give up. But as much as break ups suck - believe me, I know! Just use this time to reflect.
Life it sometimes feels like a glass of water and depression is this ink that’s been poured into it. You can watch the ink sink through the glass and change the entire color of the water. Suddenly all aspects seemed tainted. Depression has this way of turning your mind against yourself. You can get a negative tunnel vision that suddenly everything seems miserable. Going to therapy helped me reflect a lot. My therapist gave me a different perspective on situations, validation when I needed it and she also called me out on my bullshit when no one else would. Suddenly you start pouring more water into your glass till it over flows, the old water flows out and the ink begins to dilute and the glass is clear again.
So overall focus on you and worry about the relationship stuff later
I’d really love to see equal rights for marriage allowed and welcome for all couples in my generation. My dad likes to point out that civil unions are one in the same but they’re not. I’m all for freedom of religion, so I’m not telling any church, temple, etc how to practice their belief system or to change their theology in order to cater to anyone. Churches have the right to practice how they wish and that includes them denying gay couples to marry in their house of worship. But the government has no place in making someone a second class citizen over their sexual orientation. Homosexual couples should have the same acknowledgement from their government that Heterosexuals seem to be born with.
I’d like to see the end in discrimination towards the LGBT community. It’s unlawful that anyone can be fired from a job for their sexual orientation. Same with transgender. If someone can look in the mirror, into the eyes of the world and acknowledge that their shell/body doesn’t match the soul and light on the inside, how could anyone deny that. It’s their body, their soul that’s being effected. They’re transforming their body to reflect what’s already on the inside.
Their’s no need for judgment from anyone on the outside world. Something like someone’s sexual orientation, their personal transformation, and transition has no effect on your day to day life. Who I choice to marry doesn’t stop you from going to work, going out to dinner or retiring one day. all I’m saying is LGBT people are just people. They deserve the same rights
I wanna fit in to the perfect space, feel natural and safe in a volatile place. And I wanna grow old without the pain, give my body back to the earth and not complain. Will you understand, when I am too old of a man? And will you forget, when we have paid our debt who did we borrow from? Who did we borrow from?
